Based in London, you would join our Engineering team in building a platform to optimise every business on the planet.

We are looking for a Lead Software Engineer that’s eager to take ownership and and Lead our platform team to build an end-to-end CausalAI platform. You will lead the effort to drive capabilities through our core platform, enabling our Engineering and Data Science teams, as well as customer teams to develop and deliver services and applications across multiple cloud technologies.

Roles and Responsibilities

As a Lead Software Engineer, you will have key ownership of the delivery of the platform at all stages of development, from initial conception of a feature all the way to being deployed to our customers. You should have strong architectural, technical and communication skills and should want to take ownership of what you are building, caring about the end-user and their product experience. This role will include some line management, but will still be very hands-on, so you’d need to be comfortable to architect & write code as well as running a team and coaching junior members.

What You’ll Be Working On

You will be expected to work across our application stack and be willing to learn any areas which you do not already have experience with. Our primary languages are Python for backend and machine learning code and Typescript + React for our frontends.

Our platform is cloud agnostic and you’ll be heavilly interfacing with cloud infrastructure using Docker and the Kubernetes eco-system.

Outside of this, some of the other technologies we work with include: Postgres, TimescaleDB, Redis, Ansible, Django, Pydantic and Apache Arrow.

Job requirements

  • Candidates would ideally have at least 4 years professional experience but exceptional candidates will be considered.

  • Strong Development experience in Python, with experience in Web applications and services in a SaaS environment building web applications or platforms.

  • Demonstrable ownership and leadership in engineering role, ideally showing the ability to lead and manage a team.

  • Demonstrable experience with Django or FastAPI

  • Strong knowledge of architectural principles and patterns and able to communicate them clearly.

  • Good knowledge of Cloud Native / DevOps and Cloud Ops principles and environments.

  • Ideally you should be able to work in London or be able to commute. Candidates outside of London who are interested in relocating will be considered.

Nice to Haves

  • Understanding of the full stack is preferable (REST backends and SPA frontends) with Experience in React being ideal.

  • Strong Knowledge of the software development lifecycle (code review, version control, tooling, testing, etc.)

  • Interest in machine learning (prior experience is a plus, but not required)

  • Interest in data pipelines and processing large (>100GB) datasets
