Description

✨ Lollipop is the future of grocery shopping✨

Our mission at Lollipop is to help everyone eat better. Whether that’s being more healthy, making more sustainable choices or getting food on the table for less money. We want to build a delightful, fun and effortless experience - this is where you come in.

We’ve just raised a £5 million seed round led by Octopus Ventures (here in Forbes) and now are on the lookout for a full-time Design Lead to join our team of nine. We currently have two amazing design consultants helping us in the meantime, whilst we find our founding Lead Product Designer.

The role:

We're looking for an experienced Lead Product Designer to join Lollipop at the most exciting stage of our journey so far, taking responsibility of the end-to-end product design of our platform and shaping a growing design team along the way.

You’ll be leading and running every stage of the design process along with our Product Manager, from early ideation and brainstorming sessions, to mapping flows with your team, researching with new and existing customers, and ultimately responsible for helping get things shipped to their hands with the highest level of polish and quality.

What you’ll be owning:

  • All things Design at Lollipop, working closely with engineers and product managers to design and build a best-in-class product experience
  • Setting a standard of excellence in design, providing thought-leadership internally and externally, as well as providing coaching for other designers to hone their craft as the team grows
  • Talking to users to validate your designs as we go – undertaking research to ensure we're always solving the right customer problems and that our decisions help users achieve their goals
  • Nurturing our global component library, evolving it as the product grows, along with the help of the wider design team
  • Communicating design and product decisions to stakeholders and the wider company

Requirements

🙌 We'd love to hear from you if...

  • You have experience working in an early or scaling startup, so you have experience designing quickly, validating and independently
  • You have experience leading Design with confidence but, are also comfortable getting stuck in with Product Managers, Engineers and Design consultants working end-to-end
  • You care about leaving things better than you found them – whether that be a Figma file, page of documentation, broken component, or an internal process you've come across; when you see something's wrong, you push to fix it
  • You love the tiny UI details that make a product click, but are equally excited by discussing the wider picture of product and business goals
  • You understand that clear and effective writing is the cornerstone of great design. We're not here to design pretty pixels, but to help effectively communicate to our users

Benefits

🏅Why you should join us

No matter how fast we scale, we won’t forget that our incredible team is a wide-ranging group of individuals who deserve a personal touch. We’ll need to move fast and work hard to achieve our mission but we firmly commit to ensuring our workplace is motivating, diverse, inclusive, honest and transparent throughout the journey.

  • Salary range: £85K - £100K (depending on experience) with substantial EMI options
    • This is a level 3 role on our progression framework. For more details on salary and options offered, please check out our salary calculator
  • 25 days holiday, monthly socials and much more to come!
  • We’re a team of nine, with minimal hierarchy and one product squad, so you’ll work closely with the founding team from the start!
  • Flexible and sustainable working hours - we have an operating principle that’s ‘Kipchoge not Bolt’
  • You’ll get all the tools you need to do a great job, including a MacBook Pro (or equivalent)
  • This role is hybrid with 2-days in our London HQ or remote in the UK, with travel to our London HQ once a quarter for team days. Travel costs will be covered.

🤝 How we’ll get to know each other

We are excited to meet you! 🥳 We’re mindful and respectful of your time, so our process shouldn’t take more than about four hours in total and will typically consist of:

  • an introductory conversation and sharing your portfolio (30mins)
  • a case study walkthrough (up to 45mins)
  • a role & design deep dive - white-boarding session (1hr)
  • a team fit interview with one of our founders and another member of the team (1hr)

💜 We strongly encourage candidates of all different backgrounds and identities to apply. We believe that our team is stronger with a variety of perspectives, and we’re eager to further diversify our company. If you have a background that you feel would make an impact at Lollipop, please consider applying. We’re committed to building an inclusive, supportive place for you to do the best work of your career. 🙌

  • We will only accept applications with accompanying links to your portfolio. A picture paints a thousand words...
