MindsDB helps anyone use the power of machine learning to ask predictive questions of their data and receive accurate answers from it. We are looking for an engineering leader to drive both the short and long term technical direction of the company. Succeeding in this role will require adeptly balancing immediate needs — of the business and of our users — with progress against a long-term vision for the future of autoML. We’re particularly interested in hearing from folks with experience building and leading technical strategy for products or platforms at scale across multiple stakeholders and countries; and those with a passion for enabling the growth and success of businesses scaling through Series A.
Our Head of Engineering can be based in the US, UK or fully remote.
Work with the CEO, and the Product/Project Managers to lead the day to day activities of the engineering team.
Partner closely with the product manager to prioritize decisions around engineering staffing and the product roadmap.
Design and lead all technical aspects of our product.
Manage and support an international team of engineers to help them deliver to the best of their ability.
Help us hire and grow the engineering team: you’ll be a key player in interviews and hiring decisions, and lead onboarding and training for new engineers
Work with all key internal and external stakeholders to define, design, and execute the plan for MindsDB’s technical vision and product strategy.
You will have:
5+ years experience of managing and recruiting engineering teams across both backend systems/infrastructure and user facing products.
Experience growing and leading within an early stage startup, a track record of getting stuff done and ability to efficiently ship successful products in high growth product focused organizations and scale effectively.
You have worked in a SaaS organization.
Excellent knowledge of Databases.
Knowledge of highly scalable cloud products.
You have experience measuring the success of your team and reporting cross company and to leadership (e.g. OKRs/KPIs, strategic goal-setting)
Machine Learning knowledge is highly desirable
An ability to thrive on a high level of autonomy and responsibility.
You listen well and internalize the best ideas from all over the organization while also setting a vision that others are excited to get behind.
Experience implementing a more formal engineering structure and processes to a small team.
A strong desire and belief in building a diverse team.
Setting and executing product roadmaps designed on continuous feedback loops from both customers and open source users.
A love of/ and a desire to work on Open-Source projects.
Experience with encouraging a healthy work environment that’s both supportive and challenging.
Experience working in a research heavy ML/AI company
You have a solid understanding of the technical landscape of Machine Learning, AI and autoML.
Fluency and communication skills in Spanish would be a plus but is not required.
